Abandoned Abundance is Pernilla Kannapinn's second solo album.
It's about someone who set out to write a dystopia when the world was still different.

Still green behind the ears, she had nothing with her but the stars and the feeling that a thunderstorm was brewing behind the horizon.

And she was right: she had barely turned the key in her van - which had been converted into a queendom - and crossed the first national border when the rumble of thunder broke out behind her and the world fell apart.

What she found on her journey was the abundance in minimalism, the beauty in transience and the confrontation with the role of the artist in a global crisis - the discovery of her own limitlessness in the heart of loneliness.

The album title not only represents the abandoned civil existence, it also stands for the journey itself - for the big departure at the beginning, and for every little departure, every day.

The journey took her across Europe, to wintry Norway, to a lonely Greek island and to the Mexican desert - and instead of festivals and campfires, she found deserted houses and crumbling splendor from ancient times.

This is how parts of this album were recorded in the crown of an old walnut tree, in the ballroom of an abandoned villa or in a Norwegian junkyard - where a discarded piano was sacrificed as a symbol of the cultural landscape that was in flames.

Abandoned Abundance tells personal stories of intense experiences and of leaving behind and moving on. About deep friendships on the move and about a world in transition: about our world - interwoven with the world that would have been Pernilla's second book if this dystopia of divided society and forbidden live music had not been briefly overtaken by reality.
